At present there is no standard for 5G deployments.
5G standard provide data rate of 10 Mbps for ten thousand users, 100 Mbps for metropolitan areas and also 1 Gbps simultaneously to many workers on the same office. It is also capable of several hundreds of simultaneous connections for wireless sensors and improved coverage. Spectral efficiency and signaling efficiency is enhanced compared to 4G. And also latency is reduced when compared to LTE.
In addition with faster speed, 5G networks will also meet new use cases, such as the Internet of Things (internet connected devices), as well as broadcast-like services and lifeline communication in times of natural disaster. Carriers, chipmakers, OEMS and OSATs, such as Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and Amkor Technology, Inc., have been preparing for this next-generation (5G) wireless standard, as mobile systems and base stations will require new and faster application processors, basebands and RF devices. As of 2017, development of 5G is being led by several companies, including Samsung, Intel, Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, and others.
If we compare 5G with other generation mobile phones, it is obvious that 5G has some extraordinary features and advantages. 5G has better coverage area and high data rate at the edge of the cell, it has low battery consumption, availability of multiple data transfer path, around 1 Gbps data rate is easily possible, security is more, energy efficiency and spectral efficiency are good. Hence the 5th generation wireless system is very much essential.
